There is a huge misconception, not just in popular press but even promulgated by scientists who should know better, that the recent retraction-related development in Majorana physics dooms topological #QuantumComputing This is false. The recent development is in fact an advance,
together show that sample disorder must be reduced to create the topological qubit exactly as reducing disorder in silicon during 1930-60 led to modern electronics. We now know what needs to be done. This is progress.
The whole dichotomy perpetuated in the popular press that somehow there is no topological qubit and there are 53 superconducting qubits shows a total ignorance of how a quantum computer works-- you must have LOGICAL qubits which NOBODY is even close to having.

Thread explaining the future threat to #Bitcoin from #QuantumComputing -- How big a deal is it really? What is the timeline? And how do the Bitcoin devs plan to deal with it?
In a sentence, the threat is that quantum computers will eventually be able to break Bitcoin’s current digital signatures, which could render the network insecure & cause it to lose value.

First of all, when I talk about #APIs, I mean HTTP-based interfaces connecting apps and backend servers as well as different services with each other. For now, the technical details, such as whether they use REST, GraphQL, gRPC etc., shall not matter. (1/100)
When humans interact with computers they require a user interface (UI), and when machines interact with each other they need application programming interfaces (APIs). At the end of the day, however, these have to be implemented by humans. Good #APIDesign considers both. (2/100)

First things first: even though the #beaconchain is being referred to as an #eth2 or "Ethereum 2.0" technology, it does not exist to replace the current Ethereum Virtual Machine we know and love as "Ethereum 1.0" today. If you're using the EVM, you're fine. It's not going away.
Instead, the beacon chain is a gadget that was planned even from before the launch of "Ethereum 1.0" to be swapped in for the #proofofwork system, called "Ethash", which currently secures that same EVM environment.…

The answer to this question is the Energy-Participation Ratio (EPR) p — a number between 0 and 1,

which says how much of the energy of a mode is stored in a nonlinear element (e.g., Josephson junction).

The EPR is the key to the classical-to-quantum bridge for #quantumcircuits

What is Quantum Computer ?
It performs calculations based on the probability of an object's state before it is measured - instead of just 1s or 0s - which means they have the potential
to process exponentially more data compared to classical computers

Classical computers carry out logical operations using the definite position of a physical state. These are usually binary, meaning its operations are based on one of two positions.
A single state such as on or off, up or down, 1 or 0 -is called a bit

In what Google says has achieved “quantum superiority” a point at which a quantum computer can perform a task beyond the reach of regular computers
