#UnpopularOpinion: Some product teams like to prioritize their budgets for the solution rather than researching more into the problem. However without proper UX research, any solutions will be incomplete.

Let us talk about some ways to master "UX Research On Budget" in 3 steps!

Step 1 - List out assumptions and confirm them!

Whatever assumptions you may have about the users, list them out. Your assumptions may not be necessarily true, but it is safer to write them down on paper and get a better understanding of your assumptions of the user.

Step 2 - Make use of customer support data

Customer support teams have way more insights than you would imagine. They are the ones interacting with the users regularly and if this is documented, you have your raw user data ready to analyze.

We’re doing some testing of a new body font, which is more decorative than our current one.
Initial usability/legibility went well, but wasn’t performed with Dyslexic or partially sighted participants. So we’re looking to put that right.

Recruitment for Dyslexic participants is fine, but it’s partially sighted / visually impaired that I’m looking for more insight on. Given it’s font testing, it wont be screenreader specific or JAWS, anything like that, but maybe testing blurriness, zooming etc.

Columbia & UMich recently halted human subjects research b/c of public health concerns. But what are the ethical implications for #userresearch practitioners currently in the field?

(1) If you're in a highly impacted area, is it ethical for you to leave to a less impacted area?

(2) How should you handle projects centered around participatory observations?

If field respondents are expected to keep working during a crisis (e.g., service workers, healthcare providers), is it ethical for researchers to quit their participatory role and leave the fieldsite?

(3) How should you manage broken community access agreements?

If researchers make agreements with community members in exchange for fieldsite access (e.g., volunteering X hours), is it ethical to renege on that agreement and pull out before completing that service?

These days most of the applications are developed on top of frameworks. Their Research and Design is the main engagement. Budget planning is required for the Research and Design.

A thought strikes me browsing through the never ending online catalog of Apparel, that Apparel shopping is so much different than other type of shopping. Wouldn't it be great to swipe right & left like Tinder to be selective for first few minutes that will filter through the

catalog incrementally (ai) in real time. In the real world this is called window shopping!
Bombarding with XXXX numbers of items and tons of filters in the catalog is a complete disgrace to Hick's Law.

In the year 1990, India successfully transition from a close to an open economy. My earlier generation, the generation in control of finance & economy now, is master in securing foreign funding. Our nationwide trade ideology, regulations, culture, outlook and trade practices are

moulded to secure foreign funding and serving foreign countries. We fail to evaluate that over the years our standard of living have been leveled up with developed country. Further, US have declared India a developed nation. We now need indigenous production and self suffice

philosophy to improve our condition ourselves, inclusively. It means mobility in financial transaction need to be improve domestically.

"Abundance" in Design Thinking & Strategy adds a new dimension to UX. Design Thinking has Divergent & Convergent sequences. Including "#Abundance" in the scenario would help to explore a new dimension altogether. Here follow two examples.
