On #MedTwitter there is a pattern of âcalloutsâ, yes vs all genders & ages, but also pattern of misogyny and misogynoir. It happens towards nurses & doctors alike. One of the reasons I connected with @ShrimpBrokkoli is because I saw a yt male resident ridiculing her online.
I saw that behavior being taught by NON-clinical faculty & that REALLY crossed a line.

Directness & saying what you mean is important. The receiver also needs to be ready to tolerate this. Society & business places tend to prefer the passive aggressive so being direct does invoke blowback.

âBe kindâ is red flag: it identifies the passive aggressive shushing/shaming people who are threatened by @candor & perceive directness as aggression. Itâs a fixed mindset trait or a negative consequence when empathy/emotions overindexed in ways to block growth & learning.
This is what targeted racial harassment looks like: nitpicking things like âsmiledâ or âwore clothes like a celebrity, as a celebrityâ or âbought cookware.â It is part of the âgold diggerâ narrative.

In light of the Boston police Union leader child abuse, this is very plausible, even probable. I have 2x, on behalf of someone else, reported, via Title IX - the woman or gay man was not feeling safe enuf to report. Yes, there is blowback when one reports. But we canât be silent.
I am a mandated reporter as a #pediatrician. I *must* report for my patients or face legal consequences. Am same for staff, students, trainees. But in #EmergencyMedicine who do I call if a child may be unsafe at home? Sometimes, cops. Are cops safe?

#MedTwitter showed me the dark side of this, of all times, during a #pandemic. Turns out some who are employed in supposed #SciComm actually stalk patients on behalf of doctors & administrators. Sadly, #bullying patients has gone from "just" in hospitals to dark web.
There is a type of doctor, not all, who believes self a "victim" of patients.. "I am a victim" is used to do mental gymnastics to "justify" #bullying patients who seek answers, report error or harm, initiate lawsuits.
